The Regional Workshop promotes the exchange of knowledge between implementing organizations and partners of projects funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) in Central America and the Caribbean. 

This space allows for strengthening the network of IKI projects, sharing experiences and solutions, as well as visualizing the impacts achieved by international cooperation in the region.

You must register your vehicle's license plate at the booth to receive a white ticket. Then, ask for a blue ticket at the participant registration desk. By presenting the blue ticket when leaving, you will not have to pay for parking.

Option 1 | The new La Suerte Biological Corridor: An opportunity for resilient local development

 

Tuesday, October 13, 05:30 - 18:00

Objective: La Suerte Biological Corridor initiative responds to climate risks such as floods, droughts, and landslides, addressing negative impacts on human health as well as damage to ecosystems and the canton's built infrastructure. The sites visited during this tour demonstrate why the Local Government of the canton of Pococí identified a solution in this new Biological Corridor and decided to lead the initiative, and how it has relied on the EbA LAC program to move forward with concrete solutions based on the restoration of forest ecosystems.

Important: Do not forget to bring sun protection (sunscreen, hat) and rain (rain jacket, umbrella), mosquito repellent, comfortable clothes, and your water bottle.

Objective: Highlight the relationship between competitiveness, sustainability, and climate resilience through the working approach of the country's oldest coffee cooperative. GIZ has promoted innovation on farms by supporting the development and adoption of bio-inputs as a means for effective waste management, alongside innovative technologies that replace the use of chemical substances on plants.
