The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) has launched a pioneering Carbon Measurement Training Program to enhance the capacity of its Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) grantees across the Caribbean. Held in the Dominican Republic, this inaugural training gathered 35 participants from 20 organizations spanning nine countries, including Cuba, Grenada, Barbados, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.

The program addressed the technical challenges of carbon accounting by providing hands-on instruction in mapping project sites, establishing sampling plots, identifying carbon pools such as soil, peat, mangroves, and seagrasses, and calculating carbon stocks using allometric equations. This initiative empowers grantees to accurately quantify the carbon sequestration and emissions reductions of their projects, thereby strengthening their ability to advocate for sustainable land management policies, participate in carbon offset programs, and attract funding for ecosystem restoration and resilience efforts.
